Trunk Show and Fiber Fiesta

This past week was both the annual Kathy Kirchner trunk show hosted by the West Michigan Lace Group and the Michigan Fiber Fiesta.  Last year, I remembered about the trunk show the day after the show (even though I'd been telling Dan about it the whole week before!) and I didn't know about the Fiber Fiesta until after it took place. So I wanted to be sure to get to both ☺ I ended up being the lucky recipient of the door prize of a $25 gift certificate to Kathy Kirchner's store/show, so I got more than I'd planned!

My treasures from the trunk show!
Venus thread in sizes #40 and #80, another shuttle, and more shuttle bobbins.

My purchases from the Fiber Fiesta.
Rectangle looms that I've been wanting and some Coopworth roving (white) and merino roving (purple).
Unfortunately, I can't find my drop spindle so I can finally teach myself to do it.

My mom and dad were watching my sister's 3 kids so we met them at the Fiesta and the kids liked looking at the fiber animals.

I took the picture right after Andy took his hand away!

Another picture of after Andy finished petting the animal!

West Michigan Lace Group Christmas

Monday was the West Michigan Lace Group's Christmas party with ornament exchange.

I didn't get a picture of all the ornaments, but here are most of them. I received the crocheted bell in the top left corner and made the tatted wreath (that I brought to the fair) laying on the white paper in the middle. Next to it is Tatt3r's needle lace tree. It is beautiful in person!

Here are the members that were there

Third Time's the Charm

Some of the patterns for my new tatting book come together fairly easily, others take a little bit of doing! Like the heart--it took 3 tries to get it to where I was happy with putting it in the book!

Here they are with the first attempt on the left, 2nd in the middle.

The finished heart will be my motif for the West Michigan Lace Group's motif exchange this month. It just occurs to me that I did a heart last year, too! Although, I like this year's better!

WMLG Bookmark Exchange

March is the month for our bookmark exchange for the West Michigan Lace Group.

This is the bookmark I made. It is from a pattern by Ellen Lai.

This is the bookmark I got and is made by Shawna B.

Romanian Point Lace Candle

I made a Romanian Point Lace candle ornament for the WMLG's Christmas exchange. The meeting in December got cancelled due to the weather, so we had the exchange yesterday.

First, I drew out a pattern
Basting the cording down to the pattern

Ready for joining the ends and parts that overlap or touch.

Ready to start the needle-lace fillings

Finished.
(I changed the bars between my loops on the candle as it didn't work the way I'd drawn it)

Removed from the pattern

I hung it on our tree for effect

I put it in this gift card holder for the exchange. It fit perfectly in the dent meant for the gift card.

Rose of England

A gentleman in my lace group shared this work of art that he knitted in size 200 thread on
needles he fashioned from the wires used in heart catheterizations! The pattern would normally make a tablecloth, but this was about 18 inches across.

Quick Tatted Heart

The West Michigan Lace Group is having their motif exchange tonight. I remembered partway through my sock project, so I sat down on Friday to try and design something. This is what I came up with....
(I'm not very happy with the top of the heart. I may alter it a little and make the chains coming from the outside of the heart to the inside longer and join them to the chains with the joined rings in the center)

Anyway, the pattern:

West Michigan Lace Group Christmas Party

My lace group had an ornament exchange this month and this is the one I made. It is made with Romanian Point Lace

Here are the members of my lace group (plus a few kids--mostly mine and you can't see the other boy that was there)
