Today is Emily's 6th Birthday!

It is hard to believe that Emily is 6 years old today!   Since Sarah's shoulders had gotten stuck during delivery, they decided to induce me with Emi the day before my due date so she'd more likely be smaller and easier to deliver (she ended up being 6 oz bigger, but did deliver easier)   They started the pitocin at 7:30 am, broke my water at 9:20 (that's what always kicked in the labor for me), and I started shaking at 10:30 (a sure sign I was close to the end).  I was fully dialated at 11:15 and Emily Danielle Dempsey arrived at 11:35.  Her's was my quickest labor at 4 hours.

I gave Emi one present today (the rest she'll get at her 2 parties, which I'll post about later since she hasn't had them yet!)   Here are pictures of her opening that present....

I brought Patty with when I brought Emi's birthday treat to her class.  A LOT of people thought she was a real baby!

Everyone is singing Happy Birthday to Emi

Are you 1?  Are you 2? Are you 3? Are you 4?  Are you 5?  Are you 6?  STOP

Here is a picture of Patty after I finished sewing her body, putting in the weight and attaching her limbs and head

The diaper is almost as big as she is!

Kids4Truth Carnival: Cowboy Corral

Our church hosted a free kids carnival the last day of February.  The theme was "Cowboy Corral", so I worked on getting a couple of cowboy outfits sewn so that everyone would have something for the night.

Heartbreak

I just found out today that the youth pastor at our church and his wife just lost another baby.  This is the third one in a little over a year. (they were 20 weeks, 14 weeks, and 14 weeks)  I can't begin to imagine the pain that they are feeling right now.  I haven't personally gone through this sort of thing.  I know that my mother-in-law lost numerous babies before having one that lived for a half hour.  They then adopted my brother-in-law and then got pregnant with my husband.  God is good in all situations and we can't always see why.  Please pray for the Wells that they will feel God's peace and comfort through this difficult time.

February's Fun Fridays

Every year, the school has special dress up days every Friday in February to help with the winter doldrums.  The first week, Sarah declared that it was "Hat Day" as they were getting ready to go out to the bus, so we grabbed a hat for each of them and out they went.  (The note about what was happening each week came home that day after school!) The last week was "Athletic Day" but there was a snow day and I didn't get a picture either.  But the two middle weeks were "Hawaiian Day" and "Mismatch/Backward Day".
