I first became aware of "It had to be You" when it was one of the available books to review for Tyndale Blog Network. I wasn't able to get it to review then, but when I saw it come up on Amazon.com as a freebie, I grabbed it! I decided that it would be wise to read it before my next review book came from Tyndale as it is the next book in the Christiansen family series.
"It had to be You" is actually the 2nd in the series, so I missed Darek and Ivy's story. "It Had to be You" is a stand alone book, but since you meet the other family members in them, reading them in order helps you to learn the characters' stories as they unfold rather than having already happened in the next book.
"It Had to be You" follows sister Eden in the Twin Cities of Minnesota where she is working as an obit writer waiting for her chance to be a "real" reporter and write a great story. She has taken on the role of head cheerleader for her younger brother Owen in his rookie season of the NHL. She somehow has lost her own life through always helping everyone else.
Jace Jacobsen is the team captain for Owen's team and finds himself on the crossroads of his career. He doesn't like being the bad boy headlines that everyone knows him as, but that is what pays the bills.
When Owen is injured, Eden and Jace are thrown together. Will they find the real person in each other that no one else knows and find out "it had to be you"?
I enjoyed reading "It Had to be You". It switched back and forth between following Eden, Jace, and Sam (Jace's best friend). I felt like the characters were well developed and real. I wanted them to get their problems figured out and find their happy ending. There is no sexual content or swearing.
