Recycled Garment

I got this fuzzy blue robe somewhere and as soon as I saw it, I thought "Cookie Monster". I was going to do Sesame Street for Halloween last year, but my sister wanted to do the Ghostbuster theme, so I saved it for this year.

Pattern pieces pinned on. The costume is for Emily, so she's pretty excited!

All cut out!

Sewn.

I still want to sew gloves, but if I run out of time, it's wearable this way!

This is what is left of the robe!

I think that I'll enter it in next summer's fair under "Recycled Garment"! (the costume, not the left over robe pieces!)

Will's Burn

William loves knobs. buttons, and levers. He likes to push the levers on our refrigerator for the water and ice (ours aren't hooked up). Last Sunday, he discovered the coffee dispensor lever on the coffee machine at church. At least he didn't pull a whole cup of coffee down on himself like Dan did at that age!

This is the next day before bed.

It went onto his palm a little.

We had a huge tub of burn cream that we put on it.

Wrapped with gauze (this is why we did it before bed!)

This was taken Friday. The burned skin peeled (with help from Will) A week after it happened, his hand looks pretty good. It is a little dry and he still has a scab from a blister on his knuckle.

Last Saturday, I helped my sister move stuff from their old house to their new house. The 2 babies had to come with so they could be nearby when they needed to eat. Unfortunately, the power company had turned the gas off so it was only 50° in the house and it was raining. It also took longer than expected. So the boys were getting tired and cranky.
I decided to put Andrew with Peter in the cradle so they could see each other and keep each other warm.

Here is Grandpa rocking them to help them sleep.

Drawer Knobs Tutorial

I wanted to show how I made the knobs for the dresser in the boys room.

I painted plain wooden knobs the same color as the walls and cut out scans of the fabric I used for the curtains.
I coated the backs of the pictures with white glue.

Smoothed it onto the knob with the paintbrush.

Painted more glue over the top of the picture.

After they'd dried for awhile, I used a toothpick to push down any loose edges or bubbles.

Finally, I covered them with 3 coats of varnish.

All done.

On the dresser.

Andrew is 2 Months Old!

I wanted to do pictures of Andrew today because he's 2 months old, but he wanted to sleep! So I took some of him sleeping!

He was in a better mood later after his nap!

I rolled him over to show the cow jumping over the moon on his butt and....

he fell asleep again!

Well, I caved in to the pressure (as Dan says!) and joined Facebook. I have a "badge" in my sidebar.
