Product Review: "Potty Chair for Boys" by Potty Scotty

The Potty Scotty Potty Chair for Boys is available from their website for $14.95 and can be personalized for free in a variety of font colors.  I actually won the potty chair in Potty Scotty's monthly Facebook Giveaway and I opted for no personalization so that I could pass on the potty when we were finished with it.

Besides the Potty Chair for Boys, Potty Scotty also offers other options for potty chairs and seats, training pants, step stools. training dolls, aids, videos, and books.  There is also a companion site, Potty Patty, with similar items geared for girls.

The Potty Chair for Boys is made out of plastic and is approximately 13" long (front to back), 9" wide (side to side), 4½" tall at the seat, and 9½" tall at the back.   It is quite a bit smaller than either of the other potties we have in the house.

Here is a picture of it next to the Fisher Price froggy potty we used for William:

Pros:
  • It is lightweight
  • It is portable and we bring it with us to church so he has a familiar potty his size to use
  • It is all one piece, so there is nowhere for him to get pinched
Cons:
  • It is very short
  • It has no easy spot for emptying and urine tends to dribble all over the outside
  • It has a small splash guard and it is easy to get splash over if he has a really full bladder
When we first got the Potty Chair for Boys, Andy didn't use it much, and prefered to use the froggy potty.  Lately, however, he has been chosing to use it more frequently than the froggy potty.

Here he is using it:  (See how his knees stick up from it being short)

**Overall, I like the Potty Scotty for Boys and would recommend it for others to use. **

Potty Scotty Potty

I won a potty chair from Potty Scotty on their Facebook page.

I didn't really need another potty chair as I have the one the girls used and the froggy potty I got for William, but it was free! (I would have liked to win this month's giveaway for training pants more!)

It is smaller than the froggy and all one piece.

Here's Andy trying it out.

The Ups and Downs of Potty Training!

Lately, I have alternated having William in training pants, regular underwear, and diapers. Most days, I'd let him choose. Then after changing wet undies for the 8th + time in a day, I'd put him in a diaper. We would talk about the fact that pee and poop going in the potty and not his pants.

Two weeks ago, I decided that I needed to intensify my attempts at potty training him. So I put him in regular underwear and had him sit on the potty every half hour. We had about 4 successes and about 8 misses. Partway through the afternoon, William told me he wanted to wear a diaper and I told him that he didn't wear diapers anymore. The next day he had 6 successes and 2 misses. It has been up and down with how he does, but on the whole, he's getting better! He even had one afternoon where he went all on his own 4 times! We're up to about 1½ hours between when I have him go and he's usually dry when he wakes up from his naps.

I had gotten this froggy potty awhile ago to make it easier for the boys. It is alot easier than trying to use the "Splash Guard" on our other potty or the ring for the big toilet.

Action shot.
Here he's actually wearing training pants (pink ones at that!) since I hadn't had a chance to wash his regular undies and some of them were missing somewhere at the time!

Snap Trainer

I have been working on perfecting a training pant for William that has elastic around the legs that opens with snaps so it is easy to get off if we have messy accidents. I made one using a prefold, but the elastic didn't turn out quite right. Then I made one out of an old towel. These have no waterproof layer, so he'll wear them with his wool pants/shorts or alone.
