 Author Interview

 1. Do you consider yourself a plotter or a pantser (or a hybrid)?

I'm definitely a pantser. While I start with a basic premise and trope, detailed
plotting never works for me—my imagination always takes over. I’ve learned
to pray, then sit down with the Lord as my co-author and let the story unfold. It
often surprises me with twists I never saw coming. I’m grateful for God’s
guidance in the process. Each book weaves in a spiritual theme meant to
inspire and encourage, blending meaningful messages with compelling
storytelling. My goal is to create stories that entertain while nurturing the
reader’s faith.

2. What is your least favorite part about writing?
I absolutely love the creative process, especially writing the first draft—and I
don’t even mind editing. The real challenge is marketing and promotion. I’ve
never enjoyed self-promotion and would much rather be writing my next novel.
Still, I understand that without marketing, even the best stories go
unread. Mara – The Victory Series needs to be marketed for people to know the
book exists.

3. When did you become a writer?
I discovered my passion for writing later in life. Though I’d always enjoyed
journaling, I worked jobs that simply paid the bills. It wasn’t until a period of
forced rest due to health issues that everything shifted. One morning, after
dreaming up a story idea, I woke up inspired to write the kind of novel I love to
read—emotional, meaningful stories that spark curiosity and stir the soul.

4. Where do you get your ideas for your books?
I loved writing historical romance, but Christian suspense and spiritual warfare
found me. It felt as if God kept placing the idea in my heart, again and again.
After completing my award-winning Shenandoah Brides series, I sensed the
Holy Spirit prompting, “Now is the time.” Ignoring it would’ve felt like
disobedience. Maranatha: The Victory Battle is the final book in a trilogy following
Mara’s journey from birth to eternity, offering glimpses into the unseen realm
where angels whisper and demons lurk. I’m excited to see what God will do
with this series—it's His story; I’m just the vessel.

5. Do bits of yourself/friends show up in your characters
Book one, Mara: The Unseen Battle, draws heavily from my own childhood
experiences with abuse, which is why readers often describe it as raw and
authentic. While the story is fictional, it’s grounded in truth. Many characters
are inspired by real people—or blends of several—which helps make them
complex and believable. Using real-life templates brings depth and emotional
resonance to the page.

More from Blossom

Have you ever felt like something, or someone is watching you? Have you ever experienced darkness in a fully lit room? Or wondered if a malevolent force was working against you?

We all love stories on angels and God’s love and protection, but we also have an enemy… a living, breathing adversary who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. Ephesians 6:12 says: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (NKJV)

This series—The Victory Series—found me. My genre is historical romance. I was building a following, won some awards, and loved what I was doing. But as I finished up my last series, the Holy Spirit made it very clear that Mara would be my next project. From my own experiences of childhood abuse and my marriage under fire, I added enough fiction to protect real-life people and created a story that reveals the unseen spiritual world hard at work—both benevolent and malevolent forces.

We do not fight alone. In this third and final book of this series, Mara comes face-to-face with evil attacks on her children and on the very life force within her. She must choose whether to remain faithful to the end or give in to the narrative the enemy of her soul whispers to her and to us all: God does not love you or care what you are going through—He never has.

Mara’s birth to death story unfolds in a unique, riveting, and page-turning experience that will alert you to events taking place in the unseen spiritual realm.

You will be entertained, (nothing wrong with that) but you will also come away with a greater appreciation for prayer, for Christ, and for His work on the cross. You may even view the trials of life in a new encouraging way. The battle is real—but the One by our side is victorious.
