The one difficulty with having the name Sunshine is that people expect me to be…. well, sunshine all the time.

I have learned over time to embrace the Sunshine-ness that is my name. Yes, I may not always be joyful or exuberant all the time, but I have learned that if I rely on my friends, my family, and my faith, I can conquer each day head-on and live every moment with an expectation of goodness.

And that’s what I wanted to share in this book, Be The Sunshine. It’s not a book about how to be happy or seven ways to stay positive. These pages are about being yourself, showing the world your true colors, and being mindful of the moment. These chapters contain personal stories so that we all can experience love and joy for ourselves as well as shining that light on those around us!

So, just follow my voice. When it comes to being the sunshine, well, I know the way!

Author Interview 

Who would you say inspired you the most in your life?
Sunshine: My husband, Travis is my rock, my right hand, and my world. I learn so
much from this Man of God! I am greatly influenced by Travis’ inner strength and
passion for life. Travis is my unofficial Editor, my Photographer, my assistant at
Book Signings, my Illustrator, my Business Consultant and so much more! I love
being married to my best friend!

Do you have a special writing area?
Sunshine: I am able to write my novels in any location. I have been known to
finish chapters at odd hours of the night or  write ideas during my lunch break at
the office or read and edit pages with tons of noisy chatter around me. I can “get
in the zone” pretty quickly.
But my all-time favorite location is my personal workspace  at home. I close the
door, turn on the ceiling fan and sit in my comfy chair.  It’s just me and my
computer. 
I listen to movie soundtracks (music without lyrics) to keep my mind entertained
and my spirit active. I allow myself an hour to write and then take a 10 minute
break and then write for another hour. And the work continues. I am someone
who needs to take a break by getting up and walking around but I am also
someone who is disciplined enough to continue writing through the day and well
into the evening.

What kind of research do you do?
Sunshine: I had such a great time researching scripture to use for the
Nonfiction Christian book, Be The Sunshine! 87 Bible verses representing 9
different translations (NLT, MSG, NIV, NKJ, AMP, ESV, CSB, NRSV, and GW)
were used for clarity, easy-to-understand passages, and relatable terminology.

Do you read much? 
Sunshine: I read about 2- 3 books at a time.
