Book Review: "Inspiring Words: 30 Verses from the Bible You Can Color"

I have been known to color in "children's" coloring books, so when I got the chance to review an adult coloring book, I jumped at the chance. I must say, though, I don't really like the term "adult coloring book". It brings to mind "adult books" with inappropriate content. I like "coloring books for adults" better. "Inspiring Words" needs to be colored with something skinny (not a crayon). I tried out different media to see which I liked better. I used colored pencils (just Crayola brand, nothing fancy), colored ink pens, fine point gel pens, medium point gel pens, and felt tip pens (not Sharpies). None of the things I used bled through the back of the paper, but the pages are one sided so a little bleed through wouldn't matter much unless it got on the next page. I personally liked the variety of colors afforded by the colored pencils (I have a 36 color pack), but they aren't as vibrant as the gel pens. The fine tipped gel pens took a long time to fill in the designs and the regular ink pens didn't shade in completely. I liked the overall performance of the medium point gel pens the best. The designs are different, so it isn't all just the same type of design over and over. Most do not fill the entire page with color, but have a more "airy" design. Each page has a Bible verse in the middle (except one which has it at the top) I really liked the Bible verse theme and how you can use the pages as posters/framed art when you are finished with them. One problem with that is that although there are dotted lines, the pages are not perforated. You have to rip them out from the binding of the book. The page I did rip out seemed to come out fairly easily. I did notice that in at least one page, one line was missing in the design.

"Inspiring Words" is available in paperback:

and in the front of the book, it says it's also available in ebook (although I'm not sure how that works for you to color them), but I can't find a purchase link for that.

I received a free copy of this book from the zblogsquad in exchange for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own and I received no other compensation.
