"His Perfect Bride" by Jody Hedlund

 About the Book

Sage Rhodes is eager to escape Manchester, England, and leave behind the pain of a broken engagement. When she’s offered the job as a lady’s maid to Augusta Lennox, who is traveling to Vancouver Island to visit her brother, Sage happily accepts the position.

Not so long ago, brilliant engineer Jackson Lennox faced a terrible tragedy during the building of a suspension bridge in the Fraser River Valley and becomes a recluse in his fine home in Victoria. When his sister and her beautiful lady’s maid arrive on his doorstep, he’s reluctant to welcome the visitors.

Organized and efficient, Sage starts to bring order not only to Jackson’s home but also to his life. Even though at first they clash, the attraction between the beauty and the beast is undeniable. Still, they do their best to ignore it. But when Augusta goes missing and they’re thrust into a dangerous adventure together, circumstances require them to pretend they’re married.

Will the charade—and their forced proximity—change their hearts…or ruin them both forever?

  • Broken past engagement
  • Beauty and the beast
  • Different social classes
  • Reclusive hero
  • Opposites attract
  • Fake relationship/marriage
  • Forced proximity

My Thoughts

I enjoyed this book. I found it well written and easy to read. I liked the Beauty and the Beast theme of the story and how Jackson and Sage complemented each other. It was fun to see some characters from previous books. I look forward to reading more books in this series.

Veterinarian Lena Larson has her hands full with the town’s pets, including a shelter for lost animals. The last thing she needs is the arrival of the man who once shattered her heart. But back he is, and with an adorable daughter…and the need to start over. She has no intention of letting him back into her life. But when her shelter is destroyed, Lena finds herself with a garage full of homeless animals—and an unlikely ally in Oliver. Together, they embark on a mission to find homes for the abandoned animals, and help Oliver make peace with his past.

But it’s not easy to come home. Not everyone believes Oliver has changed, and their doubt could keep him from retaining custody of his daughter. More, Lena has ghosts of her own, and they’ve returned to haunt her. If she isn’t careful, they might even have the power to destroy the surprising happy ending she never saw coming.

Discover this captivating story of healing, forgiveness, and the transformative power of second chances.

My Thoughts

I enjoyed reading this book and spending more time in Deep Haven with the Fox family. There is a good biblical faith element that is woven through the story and both Oliver and Lena had growth and things they needed to work on. Many books have only one of the main characters with issues that need dealt with. I found the book to be well written and easy to read. It evoked a full spectrum of emotions from frustration and anger when people took situations out if context and blamed Oliver, to joy and happiness when Lena and Oliver worked through their difficulties to find love. I look forward to reading more books by Michelle Sass Aleckson.

Series: The Minnesota Marshalls #3
Release Date: June 6, 2023
Genre: Christian Romantic Suspense

After four years of training to become a Navy SEAL, Ned Marshall is finally ready to marry the woman of his dreams, Shae Johnson. And Shae’s been uber patient, waiting, building a life as a free-lance graphic artist, moving around the globe to be with him. So, when she said yes to his proposal in Geneva, he fully expected to live happily-ever-after.

At the very least, he expected her to be waiting at the hotel for him three days after an emergency call-out. And maybe it was unreasonable to expect her to be sitting in the hotel, working on her watercolors—Shae, after all grew up in Montana, and she has adventure in her blood. So of course she’s going to go climb the beautiful Swiss mountains. Even make a friend.

But Ned isn’t thrilled with her new friend, and something about him doesn’t feel safe…

So she’s made some friends while waiting for Ned to return? Shae can’t believe that after years of sacrifice, Ned is actually angry at her—what did he expect, that she’d sit by the window? Dana and his friends are harmless, right?

Not so much. Because when Shae finds herself kidnapped, and brought to Russia, she fears the worst—she’s been swept up in a human trafficking ring. And when she’s sent to, of all places, Siberia how will Ned ever find her?

But Ned isn’t going to lose her—not after everything they’ve been through, and he’ll stop at nothing to rescue her. But when he discovers the real reason she’s been taken, he will have to become a traitor to his country if he wants her back.

Join the epic race to rescue Shae in the high-adrenaline book three in the Minnesota Marshalls series.

My Thoughts

I am really loving this Minnesota Marshalls series and getting to know the family better. The books all intertwine, so you need to read them in the correct order so that you get the full picture of what is going on. There are characters that feature into this book/series that are from some of Susan May Warren's other series of books. I found the book to be well written and easy to read. I love the biblical faith thread and the gritty real life lessons that the characters learn. The characters are real and believable. The beginning of Iris's story comes in this book as well as Ned and Shae's story. There is no shortage of adventure and twists in this book. I look forward to reading more books by Susan May Warren.

But what happens when the past shows up to destroy it all…

A romantic second chance at love suspense with a strong-but-wounded hero, a woman in danger, a found family and a fight for justice with a surprise twist!

Another riveting Last Chance County romantic suspense!

My Thoughts

I enjoyed reading this book. It was fun to see characters from the other books in the series. Andi and Jude felt like real people that I'd be able to go and visit. I had some ideas that I thought might be going on and I was partially right, but there were plenty of twists that I didn't expect. I found the book to be well written and easy to read. There was a nice biblical faith thread and the characters grew. I look forward to reading the next book in this series.

Fox Family Series – Book 1

Sometimes the sweetest moments in life are made from the most familiar and ordinary
ingredients.

Robin Fox is living out her dreams working in a gourmet bakery in Paris. She thought she’d
live there forever, but when her relationship with her boss sours, those dreams crumble.
She finds herself back home in Deep Haven, Minnesota, caring for her grandparents’
rundown bakery while they’re away. But she vows that when they return in six weeks, she’ll
trade this ordinary life for the one she left behind.

Sammy Johnson has never gotten traction in any area of his life. This hasn’t improved in the
almost two years since the accident which nearly killed him. Although his heart is still
beating, it contains little passion for the life he’s living in Deep Haven. But that begins to
change when he offers to help his former high school friend, Robin.

Working together to keep Fox Bakery from going under, they find more than friendship is
simmering between them. But when the six weeks are up, will Robin follow her old dreams
