Loom Knitting

Emily and William had been bugging me to teach them to loom knit since I got the rectangle looms at the Fiber Fiesta.  So two weeks ago, I sat down and showed them.  Emily picked it up really fast and can do all the parts herself.  Will can't quite keep the yarn from unwrapping while trying to wrap the loops, but he's only 3½, so he has time to perfect his skill!

Andy wished he could do it, too

Sarah's Bag

Sarah has been working on a loom knitting bag off and on for awhile. She said she wanted it to be as big as a backpack, but I told her that the loom she was using wasn't big enough around to be that big. So she decided it was big enough!

Other than small assistance with a few things, Sarah made this bag all by herself!

(I tried to post this earlier, but the pictures I had taken had somehow disappeared from the camera)

Sarah's Knitting

I have tried to teach Sarah to "knit" with a loom before and she didn't quite get it. She saw our earlier attempts last week and wanted to try again. I had gotten a better loom to make it easier and sat down to teach her again. This time, she got it.

Sarah can do all the parts alone:
Wrap the yarn around,
"Scoop" the loops,
"bind off"
but she prefers to let me wrap the yarn as its faster!
