Working on the Playset

I have wanted to build a playset for the kids for about 5 years.  We've had materials for a couple years and even had a shell of one together.  It wasn't very sturdy/straight and I decided it wasn't in a very good spot, so we decided to start over.  We realized it wasn't a 2 person job, so we asked if my parents would be able to help.  This past week while it was in the 70's, we got to work!

I didn't get a before picture, so I looked through pictures from this summer to see if any showed the area

This was from July, so the area was even more overgrown now

This shows the dead tree and old burn barrel

Yes, I did help, too!

Doesn't it look nice now?

As it is now.  The rest will probably wait until Spring

Our pile to burn - it's hard to see how big it really is!

Reality Check: Laundry Room

It has now been 10 weeks since I reclaimed my laundry room, and I thought I'd let you know how I was doing on keeping it.

The things hanging are for the fair next week and the thing on the end of the ironing board is a drawer from the kitchen that needs a new track.

The door is still free to open (obviously!) and the kids use it all the time to go to the backyard.
So, overall, I've been able to keep up with the laundry room!  Yay!

Reclaiming the Laundry Room

My washing machine has been leaking while being used for quite awhile.  I had noticed a wet spot and figured it was from the wet rags I had sitting there.  Well, it became worse and I had to replace the washer.  My dryer has also been taking longer and longer to dry things, so we decided to get a matched pair at the same time.  This meant I had to "reclaim" the laundry room.  I usually keep the door shut as it is the coldest or hotest room (depending on the season) and keeping the door closed helps.  Things have been carried in there and forgotten and disorganized and it had become a mess!

The laundry room before!

Here is the pile in front of the door.

Underneath the ironing board

There were 12 bags worth of bags (stuffed full!)

and 2 garbage bags of trash!

The shelf after - still has lots of stuff, just more organized!

Now I can actually use the ironing board

Andy likes the fact that the step stool is clear

This cute bin was inside the new washer with parts and etc in it.  I think it will be reused for something!
