They are FINALLY done!!

I got the Purewool pants done for the kids. After I got them done, I thought "What was I thinking?? These are made out of wool! I have to HAND wash them!!" Oh, well! Sarah asked for some pants and when I saw the Purewool in purple and yellow, I HAD to get some for pants for the kiddos since that is the school colors for our town!

Here is William's pair.

This is Emily's pair.

And finally, Sarah's pair.

Hers had more difference between the top and the legs than the other two pairs.

Here are the three pairs together.

With the kids wearing them.

The hats were knit by Grandma.

My "Swift"

When ever I needed to roll up a skein/hank of yarn after dyeing it or from Purewool, I had to find something (or someone) to hold my yarn. I tried several different methods before I found the one that works the best...

the car seat handle!

It is the right size to fit the skeins of Purewool and if I prop it up against the footstool, I don't have to work too hard to get it to unwind.

Of course, a REAL swift would be even easier and I'm still hoping to make one, but in the meantime, this gets the job done!

Sitting next to the yarn in the seat of the carseat, is my "ball winder". I first wrap the yarn around a book a few times, then I slide it off and "sandwich" it between the handles of two flat wooden spatulas. Then I wind the yarn around the handles to make the ball. When I'm done with the ball, I pull the spatulas out one at a time. And Presto, a center pull ball!

Disaster Averted

I got this far on Sarah's Purewool pants and as I went to divide for the legs, I realized that I didn't have enough stitches!

I had forgotten to add the 20 stitches in the first row of the body after the ribbing! Thankfully, the 104 stitches I did have was exactly what I needed for William's pants, so these have become William's pants! They will just have a little bigger waistband, which isn't that big of a deal since I usually run a line of elastic through the top anyway!

So Much Knitting, So Little Time!

I have so many projects that I want to do and feel like I will never finish what I'm working on to start the next one!

Currently, I'm working on a pair of pants for Sarah using the Purple & Yellow Purewool. I have Emily's pair done and still need to make William's pair. I'll have to get a picture of them to add!

I would also like to make a scarf for Dan using the Caron Simply Soft yarn in stipes of blue and white.

The yarn at the bottom of my yarn stash tub is for socks for me (and maybe the kids since I got 2 skeins of each color). I haven't ever made socks before and am going to try toe-up socks two at a time!

New Longies

This is the Gentlemen and Blauer Reiter colors of Purewool rolled up into balls.

Here are the longies I knit for William using the Blauer Reiter color.

Here is William modeling them.

I made them with the Tinybirds Organic "in the round" pattern. I made the rise and legs shorter than her newborn pattern and I think they fit pretty well!
