This alliance is a chance to repay the captain who has done so much for her care, as well as divert her attention from her grief. When Wyvern returns to his sea commission, she'll stay behind to oversee his property and wards.
It sounds so simple. Until the stalwart captain is arrested on suspicion of smuggling, and Sophie realizes how much he's come to mean to her. Now she'll have to learn to fight, not only for his freedom but also for his love.

"The Indebted Earl" is the third book in the Serendipity and Secrets series and while you could read it alone, it is better to read the other books in the series first to get the full picture of the backstory. I found the book to be well written and easy to read. I liked Charles and his gruff concern. I enjoyed seeing him grow into a fuller person being around Sophie and the girls. The girls added interest and fun to the story and their varied personalities. I also liked Sophie's caring and giving nature and how she has matured. The biblical faith element was nicely done through the story. There were parts of the "twist" in the story that I guessed, I didn't know the full extent of how it would play out. I look forward to reading more of Erica Vetsch's books. |
