I got the opportunity to review the latest book in the "A Year of Weddings Novella" series and received "A May Bride" free for me to read and give my honest review through Booklook Bloggers.
I had read the first chapter of "A May Bride" at the end of "An April Bride", so I was really looking forward to being able to read the rest of the story.
Ellie Martin's mother has always been over protective and worries due to the fact that at barely 18, she had to have a shotgun wedding. Ellie tends to be cautious as a result and always thinks of what her mom would say or think about something. When she meets Gray Whitby and they embark on a whirlwind romance, she has a hard time dealing with his spontaneity at times. When it comes time to introduce Gray to her mother, will she be able to convince her that he isn't like her "Father-the-rat"? When Ellie jumps to her sister's aid and jeopardizes her own dream, will Gray have enough of playing second fiddle to her family or will they still have their happily ever after?
"A May Bride" is written in first person point of view and is told by Ellie. It was interesting to see the whole story through her eyes. I thought that the characters seemed like real people dealing with real issues of how to make your own way in the world. While there is some talk about people who put "the bed before the wed" as Ellie's mom would say, there wasn't any inappropriate physical contact described in the book. Being a novella, it was easy to get it finished in a short amount of time.
I would recommend "A May Bride" to those who enjoy Christian romances.
"A May Bride" is available for Kindle on Amazon.com for $3.79.
