Oliver B. Slocum

My maternal grandpa died Sunday, August 18th at 2:12 pm.  He was at home with his wife of 69 years and 2 of his daughters when he died.  It was the weekend of Danish Festival and Grandma had told my mom and her older sister to go ahead with the craft sale we do every year.  Hospice was a big help the last week.  Prior to that, my mom's oldest sister and her daughter (my cousin) took turns staying with my grandparents and helping out with Grandpa.  My parents helped some, too.  The visitation was today with the funeral tomorrow.  I took some pictures.  Some of them aren't super clear or a little dark, but it gives you an idea of what it was like.

This planter was from the Walmart Dan works at.

Nice pictures, thanks for posting them. There was a sad time as we were getting ready to leave, Grandma stroked his face then kissed him & said good night, then the other daughters joined in. We all then did a group hug as Liz sort of thanked Dad for what his life meant to us all & said good night, see you tomorrow.

Becky,

Thanks so much for taking & posting these photos. We wish so much that we could have been there with all of you. Seeing the photos does help some, just being able to see everybody. :)

When I read the obituary the other day, it really caught me off guard (though I'm not sure why) when I saw Jessica mentioned in the "preceded in death" part.

Wow, Mom... that sounds really touching what you described. I'm thinking of all of you right now as I know Grandpa's funeral is happening.

We love you all!

Amy & Matt :)
